Performance at St. Mark’s

There were 71 people at St. Mark’s this evening, for my performance of the Gospel of Luke.

It was a little difficult to be in a new space, wearing a microphone. The sound engineer was very good, so the sound was fine.

There were no hiccups in the memorization, except for the genealogy. I missed some names, but no one seemed to notice, even when I asked about it afterwards.

My impression is that it was well received. It’s a long performance, over an hour, but it is engaging.

Afterward, Fr. John Mosier came down with his own microphone and prompted questions from the audience. There was a good rapport. Someone suggested that this would good for school students, and I strongly agreed. Schools are an import venue to look into.

Before the performance, I was very nervous. That nervous energy probably helped the performance.

I put the bible on a bookstand on the altar, and there were a couple of times that I blanked, and had to turn to the Bible and flip some pages. But this seemed planned and natural, and didn’t detract from the recitation.

Now it is a matter of calming down after all that effort and anxiety, and assessing this project, and where it stands.
