Returning to the Project

It has been a few weeks since the performance at St. Mark’s. That event was surprisingly draining. Not only did I need a lot of rest for a few days afterward, it left me without a sense of direction or enthusiasm.

My commitment and drive have slowly returned. I am now working on memorizing chapter 10, and would like, eventually, to have the entire Gospel memorized. This is a long term project, and in the meantime, there are a number of things to attend to.

An audience member from St. Mark’s has a prison ministry, and this person has invited me to perform at a couple of different facilities in southern Idaho. The permissions and approvals still need to be worked out, but it looks like it will happen.

As I walk around parks and venues in Idaho, I have a better idea of what this performance is and how it might be presented. There are many unturned stones in this effort, and it would be nice to have a public performance regularly, maybe five times a week. My thinking here is that if I am going to rehearse it regularly anyway, why not have people present and make it a performance?

This Gospel Express website needs some refining, to give it some pop and to make it more appealing. Graphic design is not one of my strengths, so it would be nice to get some outside help here.

And school starts up in less than a week. A couple of my classes might be very helpful in developing this project. And it also helps to have a pretty clear idea of what I’d like to do in the performance space, and to have it well memorized and ready to perform.

An idea, both appealing and terrifying, is to start busking. This would involve being in a public space, and initiating a public performance, and assessing the reactions and the appeal. This, I think, would be an important experiment, but it does cause serious anxiety. On the campus, where I am a student, might be the best place to start.
